Alex Julius & Emmett Shutts, The Davey Tree Expert Company

Melissa LeVangie Ingersoll, Bear LeVangie & Rebecca Seibel, Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop

Selecting and inspecting climbing and rigging gear is essential to a good day in the trees. Learn the fundamentals of gear inspection and when it’s time to retire that gear. Bring your own gear and we’ll review inspection protocol specific to certain manufacturers and types of gear.

  • Equip yourself and your crew to conduct gear inspections with information regarding signs of wear and tear, why certain things aren’t acceptable in terms of safety, following manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
  • Take home a gear inspection checklist template to ensure ongoing documented gear inspections occur.

Arborists should bring the climbing equipment they use for daily operations.
